    Banker, philanthropist passes away

    Renowned banker and philanthropist H.E. “Gene” Rainbolt passed away on Jan. 2. He was 95. Born in 1929 in Norman, Rainbolt started his banking career in 1959, acquiring his first bank in Purcell in 1962. In 1989, he founded BancFirst, now Oklahoma’s largest state-charter bank.
