Financial Literacy Programs

  • America’s Promise
Throughout the nation, banks of every size have teamed up with public, private and not-for-profit organizations with one clear goal in sight: to empower today’s youth so that they can secure a better future for themselves tomorrow. More than 100 Oklahoma banks have made a commitment to America’s Promise, has yours? If your bank is or will be involved in youth-related activities in your community, all you have to do is promise to increase those activities by at least 10% in the next year!
  • National Teach Children to Save Day
Each year, thousands of bankers across the country visited the schools in their communities to teach young people the financial facts of life on Teach Children to Save Day, a financial literacy program sponsored by the American Bankers Association Education Foundation and supported by the OBA.
  • America Saves Week
The America Saves Week campaign educates consumers on how to use saving to reach financial goals. The initiative is coordinated by America Saves and the American Savings Education Council, in conjunction with financial organizations and nonprofits like the ABA Education Foundation. To participate in America Saves week or for more information, visit www.americasavesweek.org. Information for banks is available here. Visit the foundation’s products page for additional financial education resources for your bank.
  • Get Smart About Credit Day
The Get Smart About Credit program helps bankers provide much-needed credit education to 15-to-25-year-olds in their communities. The highlight of the program is the annual Get Smart About Credit Day, held every October since 2003. Through this annual event, more than 315,000 young adults have learned real-life credit smarts from 7,660 volunteer bankers.
  • Jump$tart Your Money Week
Jump$tart Your Money Week is a statewide, coordinated effort of the Oklahoma Jump$tart Coalition and its members to raise awareness of financial education issues in Oklahoma.  JYM Week provides an opportunity for local community organizations, government agencies, financial institutions, schools, universities, corporations and others concerned with the financial education skills of Oklahomans to plan and cooperatively market a wide range of educational events.
