Just some random tidbits that might be of interest to our bankers this week!

I’ve done so much traveling the past few weeks, everything is starting to blend together! Since I’ve returned from the Washington Trip last week, I’ve been DESPERATELY attempting to catch up with just the day-to-day work in the office here.
With that in mind, I’m keeping my part here pretty short. I mean, blame Jeremy if you want: Even right now, he’s glowering while standing in my office door tapping on his watch and refuses to leave until I give him my newspaper column for this month!

One quick thing is I’m excited about our four inductees for the Oklahoma Bankers Hall of Fame. You can read who those are in the story below.

We’ve got ourselves an undefeated showdown in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Saturday … and I’m going to be there! The defending national champion, Indiana, heads to the Cornhusker State for one of the biggest games there in the past few years. I’m excited to get a chance to take my family up to the game Saturday, as it’ll be the first Nebraska game ever for my boys!
Go Big Red!
Four bankers to join Oklahoma Bankers Hall of Fame
The Oklahoma Bankers Hall of Fame has selected the four bankers who will be inducted into its 2026 class later this year.
Jack Conn, Jane Haskin, Michael Leonard and Bert Olah Jr., will make up the 2026 class. The inductees were selected by a panel of bankers from across the state.
The induction ceremony will be held Dec. 3 at the Oklahoma History Center. It will be hosted by the Oklahoma Bankers Association’s immediate past chair, Steve Bagwell, who is president and CEO of Vision Bank, in Ada.
For more information about the induction ceremony, please contact the OBA at (405) 424-5252, or check on the OBA website or the latest OBA Updates.
Fed extends comment period for ‘bank insider’ regulation
The Federal Reserve has extended the comment period by a month for proposed changes to its regulation governing extensions of credit to bank “insiders,” such as board directors, executives and major shareholders.
Regulation O governs loans by covered banks to their insiders and affiliates of insiders. The proposed changes would update outdated dollar-based limits on certain types of lending to bank insiders and index them going forward, according to the Fed.
The original deadline for comment was Oct. 5. The new deadline is Nov. 4.
Save the date: OBA convention, senior management events set for 2027
Mark your calendars as the OBA Convention and OBA Senior Management dates and location have already been set for next year!
The 2027 OBA Convention will be held May 24-26, back at the Okana Resort, in Oklahoma City. Meanwhile, the 2027 OBA Senior Management Conference will be held on April 4-6 at the Westin Kierland Resort, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
More details will be available in the coming months, but go ahead and get those notes on your calendar today!
Publicize your promotions, hires!
The OBA runs a monthly “Oklahoma Bankers” feature in its newspaper where promotions and hires from member banks are highlighted. While the submissions seem to come in giant clumps during parts of year, forcing some to be pushed back a couple or even three months to be published, we appear to be between said “giant clumps.” Now is the time to get to the front of the queue to get your bank’s employees featured!
Simply send a short write-up of the hire and/or promotion, along with a head-and-shoulders photo, to Jeremy in our communications department!
OBA education corner …
Ever have a feeling a song is following you around on the radio? One of us here at the office mentioned the other day it seemed every time he’s gotten in his car the past week, the big 1986 pop/rock hit “Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone)“, by the Canadian band White Tiger, cheerfully howls its way through his speakers. We’re not sure what to make of it, either, except at least it’s a decent tune! Has that ever happened to you? While thinking it over, make sure to keep up with what’s happening on the continuing education front, including the following:
