Just some random tidbits that might be of interest to our bankers this week!

In a bit of a shocker, Oklahoma governor candidate Mike Mazzei received an endorsement from President Trump over the weekend. This comes on the heels of a poll commissioned by NonDoc that showed the former state senator leading the field – a similarly surprising result.
It’s shaping up to be one of the more fascinating elections in Oklahoma history!
We’re still a couple weeks away from the primary, but whomever is your choice, please get out to vote.

It was a rough weekend all around to be a Nebraska fan. The softballers saw their run ended by Texas in the College World Series. Jordy (Bahl) Frahm had a home run, a no-hitter and a 1-0 lead going into the sixth inning before it all fell apart. The baseballers, meanwhile, couldn’t solve the puzzle that was Ole Miss, losing to them twice in the Lincoln Regional.
So, now I’m on to Major League Baseball, I guess. Let’s see how the Cubbies are doing … what’s that? … a 10-game losing streak?!
When does college football start?
FDIC, OCC release CRA exam schedules for last quarters of fiscal year
The FDIC has released the schedules for Community Reinvestment Act examinations to be conducted in the third and fourth quarters of the year, while the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency released its schedule of CRA evaluations for Q3.
The OCC said while it typically releases schedules for two quarters, “updates to CRA evaluation scheduling for community banks and the implementation of supervisory strategy process reforms constrain the agency’s ability to do so at this time.”
First Friday Fraud Forum on tap this week; MAFIA meeting scheduled
The First Friday of each month OBA hosts a virtual fraud meeting for its member banks. The June meeting will be held 10-11 a.m. this coming Friday, June 5. Click this link to join the call on Zoom. Dial-in information for those on telephone is 1-346-248-7799. The passcode for both is 979476.
In other fraud-related news, the OBA will host an IS MAFIA meeting on Friday, June 12 in the OBA’s Harris Event Center starting at 9:00 am. This meeting is for financial institutions in the state of Oklahoma to network and discuss cybersecurity issues affecting our industry. A completed non-disclosure agreement is required before attending. The form can be found here and can be submitted to Cherry Wilson, with The Bankers Bank, prior to the meeting, or you can bring the completed form to the meeting. RSVP is not required.
Please join us as our moderator extraordinaire Jeff Story, The Bankers Bank will be discussing Stupid AI Tricks: Practical Ways Banks Are Actually Using Artificial Intelligence.
This presentation takes its inspiration from David Letterman’s beloved Stupid Human Tricks segment, reframing AI not as a futuristic buzzword but as a collection of genuinely useful tools that community banks can deploy right now. Each use case covered will be grounded in the principle that AI serves as a co-pilot, not a replacement — the human still makes the call, but AI surfaces the signal faster and reduces the grunt work. We will also tackle the guardrails that matter most to Oklahoma community bankers: model governance, data privacy, and the regulatory expectations examiners are already beginning to probe.
