Adjustments made in electronic title administration

After meeting with stakeholders, Service Oklahoma is adjusting how electronic titles will be administered when the transition begins next month.

To accommodate dealer business needs, paper titles will now be issued by default during initial title transactions. This update was made in direct response to partner feedback and ensures dealers can continue their current processes without additional steps or notarization. Dealers may still opt in to receive electronic titles if they prefer.

As you know, starting July 1, Service Oklahoma will begin issuing electronic titles for title transactions. Existing paper titles will remain valid. But when the next title transaction occurs, the title will be converted to an electronic record.

A paper title may also be requested in the following situations:

  • The vehicle is sold at auction.
  • The vehicle is registered or sold out of state.
  • The vehicle is used for floorplan lending.
  • The vehicle is leased (a paper title may be requested six months before the end of lease or when the payoff or buyout is processed).

Please note: The Service Oklahoma team is working to finalize updates to the title print request form.

Upcoming Q&A
