Just some random tidbits that might be of interest to our bankers this week!

I was incredibly saddened to hear about the passing over the weekend of two prominent longtime Oklahoma bankers and members of the Oklahoma Bankers Hall of Fame.

John V. Anderson and Steve Burrage both passed this weekend, after spending a lifetime making their mark on the Oklahoma banking industry and beyond. Anderson was a 2019 inductee into the Oklahoma Bankers Hall of Fame, while Burrage was enshrined in 2021.

A celebration of life for Burrage will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Antlers High School gymnasium. The memorial for Anderson will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Crescent.

I think I jumped the gun last week saying it was the end of the 2024-25 college sports season for me. While my beloved Cornhuskers are done, I admit I got sucked into the the drama of the Murray State-Duke college baseball super regional last night. I mean, there’s not many opportunities to watch the massive underdog have a post-game celebratory dogpile TWICE within 5 minutes of each other!

Adjustments made in electronic title administration

After meeting with stakeholders, Service Oklahoma is adjusting how electronic titles will be administered when the transition begins next month.

To accommodate dealer business needs, paper titles will now be issued by default during initial title transactions. This update was made in direct response to partner feedback and ensures dealers can continue their current processes without additional steps or notarization. Dealers may still opt in to receive electronic titles if they prefer.

As you know, starting July 1, Service Oklahoma will begin issuing electronic titles for title transactions. Existing paper titles will remain valid. But when the next title transaction occurs, the title will be converted to an electronic record.

A paper title may also be requested in the following situations:

  • The vehicle is sold at auction.
  • The vehicle is registered or sold out of state.
  • The vehicle is used for floorplan lending.
  • The vehicle is leased (a paper title may be requested six months before the end of lease or when the payoff or buyout is processed).

Please note: The Service Oklahoma team is working to finalize updates to the title print request form.

Upcoming Q&A

Service Oklahoma will host another virtual Q&A from 3-4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18. Click here to join the session at the time of the event.

OBA education corner …

Between the mosquitos and the humidity, it feels like we’re living more in the Deep South rather than the Midwest or Southwest or whatever group with which we’re usually lumped! While scratching an itchy bite and enjoying air you can wear, make sure to be aware of upcoming continuing education opportunities for you and your staff!
