Just some random tidbits that might be of interest to our bankers this week!

The Oklahoma Bankers Hall of Fame induction ceremony seemed to go without a hitch last week! We inducted four notable bankers into the Hall on Thursday at the Oklahoma History Center, and had many of their friends, family members and well-wishers in attendance. You can read our official press release on the front page of OBA.com for more!

I read where the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau expects to issue a proposed rule this month to consider whether fees charged for overdraft services are finance charges. If they are considered so, the fees would be subject to the requirements of Regulation Z, or the Truth in Lending Act, which is definitely something to keep an eye upon. We’ll keep you advised.

If anyone can play quarterback, I highly encourage them to enter the transfer portal and consider Nebraska … even Uncle Rico.

2024 holiday closing signs available from OBA

Customers need to know that Oklahoma banks are closed in observance of several holidays each year. OBA makes this easy by offering member banks a set of eleven decorative 6”x 9” decals.

Static-cling decal signs clearly notify customers of your holiday closings. Each decal has a holiday design with the bank closing dates as observed by the Federal Reserve. Additional blank decals are provided to write on for emergency closings. Juneteenth holiday sign is included. English edition or English/Spanish edition are available.

OBA TikTok Time …

Welcome to the continuation of our semi-regular feature in the OBA Update: OBA TikTok Time!

The OBA created a TikTok account to feature fun, entertaining little video segments that feature our bankers and those who work with them. No, you don’t have a TikTok account to view these short videos as you can navigate directly there just by using the link we provide here in the OBA Update. For those concerned about security via TikTok, you can also easily view the videos through our Instagram account.

We’ll feature our most recent TikToks each week in the TikTok Time of the OBA Update. For this week’s edition, we visited the Oklahoma Bankers Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and in the spirit of celebrating those who helped blaze a trail before us, asked some attendees “Who was your biggest influence in the banking world … and why?” (We see you Bill Horn, Jim Hamby, Guy Sims, Nevyle Cable and Mick Thompson!)
