OBA hosts candidate forum

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Bankers Association hosted 16 candidates who will be on statewide ballots in November, including three gubernatorial opponents, at a forum during its monthly board meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

The forum, which took place in the OBA’s Harris Event Center in Oklahoma City, was highlighted by the appearance of Gov. Kevin Stitt, and his Democratic opponent in the November elections, Joy Hofmeister.

Joining Stitt and Hofmeister was Libertarian candidate Natalie Bruno, who was also on hand to state her case for being the state’s next governor.

More than a dozen other candidates, all vying for statewide seats on the November ballot, also took a few minutes to speak to the assembled group of bankers and OBA staff. These included:

  • Superintendent of public instruction —Jena Nelson (Democratic).
  • Lieutenant governor — Incumbent Gov. Matt Pinnell (Republican), Melinda Alizadeh-Fard (Democratic) and Chris Powell (Libertarian).
  • S. Senator (Open seat) — Kendra Horn (Democratic), Ray Woods (independent) and, representing the Markwayne Mullin campaign, Josh Owen (Republican).
  • Attorney general — Gentner Drummond (Republican) and Lynda Steele (Libertarian).
  • State treasurer — Charles de Coune (Democratic) and Todd Russ (Republican).
  • Corporation commissioner — Kim David (Republican).
  • Labor commissioner — Incumbent Leslie Osborn (Republican).
