OBA first vice chairman delivers OPSU commencement speech

Amada Alvidrez was selected as the Oklahoma Panhandle State University 2021 Commencement Program Speaker, for the ceremony which was held on May 7. Alvidrez serves as Regional Retail Manager at Equity Bank in Guymon and is also currently first vice chairman of the Oklahoma Bankers Association.

In 2016, she joined the Government Relations Council for OBA and was elected to the Board of Directors. Not only is she the first Panhandle resident to serve on the Board of Directors, but she is also the first Hispanic member of the board.

A strong supporter of Panhandle State, Alvidrez became a board member of the Panhandle State Alumni Board of Directors in 2018. She also became the first Platinum Life Member of the Alumni Association in 2019.

In her speech, Alvidrez encouraged graduates to pursue their passions as they move on to the real world.

“When you go out in the world, don’t box yourself into something that doesn’t give you joy. I studied to be a teacher, but I fell in love with banking,” Alvidrez said.

“I’m using my degree in a way I never imagined. Also, never stop learning because being a lifelong student brings unlimited opportunities.”
