OBA names successor for president/CEO position

OBA Chairman Rick Walker has a special announcement for all OBA members. His letter is below:

Dear OBA members,

In 2019, the OBA Board of Directors nominated a 10-member succession committee to begin the process of selecting a new leader for the OBA before Roger Beverage’s impending retirement in 2021. That committee, headed by Sandy Werner, ultimately selected the leadership firm, Schnake Turnbo Frank, to facilitate an objective, dynamic recruitment and selection process for the position.

After a comprehensive, four-month nationwide executive search process involving almost 80 total candidates, 17 semi-finalists and seven finalists, the succession committee is pleased to announce Adrian Beverage has been chosen to lead the Oklahoma Bankers Association, effective May 1, 2021.

Adrian has been with the Association for more than 20 years and currently serves as the chief of staff, executive vice president and director of government relations. In his current role, he tracks legislation, prepares testimony and develops grassroots advocacy processes for the Association.

The OBA Board of Directors confirmed the succession committee’s choice at a special board meeting held on Dec. 8. Roger Beverage will continue to lead the OBA through April 2021 to ensure a successful transition.

Adrian has been a longtime advocate for our member banks and has built strong relationships with our members, legislators, and regulators. As a results-oriented, strategic leader, I am confident he will successfully navigate our Association through the changes our industry will face in the future.

Sincerely,

Rick Walker
2020-21 OBA Chairman

Walker, along with the rest of the OBA Board of Directors, felt it was important OBA membership received the news first before the general public and media. The firm of Schnake Turnbo Frank, which facilitated the search for a new president and CEO, has prepared a news release for the media and general public, which will be released Friday morning.
