FDIC chairperson expresses gratitude for community banks

In conjunction with the OBA Virtual Washington Visit, we just got off the Zoom meeting with FDIC Chairperson Jelena McWilliams and members of her senior staff.

As she wrapped up our meeting, she expressed her gratitude for all that community banks did and have done during the pandemic.

“Community banks do have a future,” she told our group. “I want to express my deepest gratitude for all that you community banks have done to get us through the process of getting our economy going again. We will continue to encourage you to work with your borrowers and get them up and running.

“God bless you all. We will get through this, together!”

We thought you might want to know what she said, offering her thanks for all that you and your banks have done over these past few months. It’s been a while since we’ve heard words like “God bless you,” and “thank you” from a chairman or lead dog of any federal regulatory agency.

Take a bow, ladies and gentlemen. You have certainly earned it!
