Getting involved:

"Making Bankers Better" is more than just a theme for the Oklahoma Bankers Association, it's a mission statement. The purpose of this program is simply getting more bankers involved in their industry and its advocacy efforts.

“Bankers everywhere are beginning to understand more clearly that their jobs, salaries, benefits, bonuses and shareholder returns are tied directly to the legislative and regulatory process,” said OBA President and CEO Roger Beverage. “We’re trying to do what we can to involve them in their industry’s advocacy efforts because their very jobs are at stake.

“We also believe that we make bankers better at what they do and more valuable to their bank,” he continued. We want to do everything we can to encourage bankers to continue their commitment to banking as a career track and help them become the very best they can be. And we’re going to make it worth their while to do so.”

First, it doesn’t cost you or your bank anything. Period. No hidden charges, fees, taxes, assessments or anything else.

Second, it’s all about you, the individual bank professional. As a Professional Member you’re receiving up to $50,000 in felonious assault insurance coverage.  What’s that, you ask?  It’s insurance that provides coverage for loss of life or bodily injury in the event you’re injured as a result of a felonious assault committed or attempted against you while you’re performing your duties at the bank.

In addition, as a Professional Member you’re enrolled in an Identity Theft program at no charge to the bank or to the individual Professional Member. In the event you’re the victim of the nation’s fastest growing crime you’ll be assigned a personal advocate who will work directly with you from the moment your crisis is reported until it’s resolved.  This free coverage also includes family members, again at no charge to the bank or the Professional Member.

What’s the catch? There isn’t one. We created this program to help foster a better connection between individual bank employees and their Association in 1996 and what we (the OBA) get out of this deal is the potential involvement of thousands of Oklahoma bank employees.

At last count (according to the FDIC) there were more than 18,000 bank employees in our state.  That’s a tremendous resource of folks who have a vested interest in the preservation of the banking industry and their ability to continue to make a living, receive benefits (like health insurance coverage) and have a say in how their industry operates.

Help us recruit more bankers to become Professional Members!  Send an e-mail to adrian@oba.com and he will gladly put a packet in the mail or it’s available on the top of this page.
